Product Introduction of Spring Support

The spring support is an important structural accessory in the hydraulic end valve assembly of a plunger pump. It is mainly installed inside the valve box or valve cavity to fix and restrict the valve spring. At the same time, it cooperates with the valve body, valve seat and other components to constrain the movement position and lift of the valve body during the opening process.

When a plunger pump is in operation, the suction valve and the discharge valve will continuously open and close in response to the pressure changes inside the pump chamber. The spring support needs to maintain the correct installation position of the valve spring during this repeated opening and closing process and withstand the periodic loads generated by the spring, valve body and fluid impact.

Compared with spring supports, spring brackets usually have more obvious integral support and limit structures. In addition to supporting or fixing the spring, it may also be installed in conjunction with the valve box through support arms, sleeves, annular structures or limit positions, thereby restricting the spring offset and controlling the movement range of the valve body.

The main function of the spring support

1. Fixed valve spring: It provides a stable installation position for the spring of the suction valve or discharge valve, preventing the spring from significantly shifting or deviating from its normal working position within the valve cavity.

2. Restrict spring movement: Control the radial and axial positions of the spring through the bracket body or limit structure to maintain the correct working posture of the spring in the valve group.

3. Limiting the lift of the valve body: Some plunger pump spring brackets also serve the function of limiting the lift of the valve body, which is used to control the opening height of the valve body and enable it to move within the designed range.

4. Maintain the structural position of the valve assembly: Work in coordination with the valve box, valve body, valve spring and related limit parts to maintain the assembly relationship among the internal components of the valve assembly.

5. Balancing fluid channels: The spring support is located in the fluid area at the hydraulic end. Its structure usually needs to ensure mechanical strength while minimizing the obstruction of the fluid channels to avoid excessive throttling effects.

Working position and working principle

Spring supports are usually installed in the valve cavity where the suction valve or discharge valve of the plunger pump is located. When the pressure in the pump chamber changes and pushes the valve body away from the valve seat, the valve spring is further compressed. The spring support is responsible for maintaining the installation position of the spring and limiting the opening stroke of the valve body according to the specific structure.

When the fluid force decreases, the valve spring pushes the valve body to return to the valve seat direction. The spring support continues to provide fixation and limit for the spring, ensuring that the valve body can return to the closed position along the designed trajectory.

Structural features

Diverse structural forms: Depending on different pump types and valve box designs, the spring support can adopt annular, sleeve, support arm or other special structures.

The limit requirements are clear: The bracket not only needs to match the size of the spring, but also needs to be coordinated with the lift of the valve body and the space of the valve cavity.

Bearing cyclic loads: The plunger pump valve group opens and closes repeatedly at high speed, and the spring support is constantly subjected to periodic impacts, vibrations and mechanical loads. Therefore, there are high requirements for structural strength and fit condition.

In the fluid erosion area: Some spring supports are directly in the medium flow channel at the hydraulic end, and attention needs to be paid to the erosion, wear and structural damage on the surface of the support.

The difference from spring supports

Spring supports usually focus more on providing installation surfaces and support positions for valve springs, while spring brackets typically undertake more complete functions of fixation, limiting, and structural support. In some plunger pump structures, the spring support is also directly involved in limiting the lift of the valve body, so its shape, strength and assembly relationship with the valve box are usually more complex.

Scope of application

Spring brackets are mainly used in the hydraulic end valve groups of reciprocating plunger pumps, high-pressure plunger pumps and related oil drilling and production equipment, and can be used in conjunction with suction valves, discharge valves and related vane components. The actual application location and structural form should be determined based on the model of the plunger pump and the internal design of the valve box.

Key points for selection

Spring brackets are hydraulic end accessories with high structural matching requirements. When purchasing or replacing them, it is recommended to focus on confirming the following information:

1. Brand, series and specific model of plunger pump;

2. Should it be installed at the position of the suction valve or the discharge valve?

3. Internal installation dimensions of the valve box or valve cavity;

4. The outer diameter, free height and spring form of the matching valve spring;

5. Valve body diameter and designed lift;

6. Bracket structure form, outer diameter, height and limit part dimensions;

7. Original part number, physical sample or technical drawing.

Inspection and maintenance

When inspecting the valve assembly of a plunger pump, it is necessary to check whether the spring support has cracks, breaks, erosion, wear, deformation or damage to the limit position. For supports located in areas with high flow rates, it is also necessary to focus on inspecting the erosion conditions at the flow passage edges and support parts.

If the spring support deforms or breaks, it may cause abnormal spring position, loss of control of the valve body lift or change in the movement state of the valve group. Therefore, when obvious structural damage is found, it should be replaced in time.

When installing, it is necessary to confirm that the positioning relationship between the bracket and the valve box is correct. The spring should be installed in the designed position, and the valve body should be checked to move normally within the allowable range. Before disassembling and assembling the hydraulic end of the plunger pump, the shutdown and pressure relief should be completed in accordance with the equipment operation requirements.
